Bürki: We'll go into the break with a good feeling
The fixture pile-up has been energy-draining. "You could see that today, especially in the second half," said goalkeeper Roman Bürki in the wake of the victory over FC Augsburg. "It's exactly those kind of games you need to win," he declared.
It was your seventh game in 21 days. How difficult was it to give it your all yet again today? "You could see that it was very difficult, because we had played against the Champions League winners in midweek and that game was really demanding. You could see it today, particularly in the second half. We stopped playing with a spark, were lackadaisical in possession, couldn't find the right passing options and lost the ball relatively easily."
What does it say about this team that you still managed to get three points anyway? "It's extremely important. It's exactly those kind of games you need to win if you want to be successful. The coach warned us that this would be a test of our mentality, because there's a reason Augsburg are so high in the table, and because they have such an outstanding team mentality. We needed to put in a fight and we did so brilliantly."
There were two great goals today. What was your take on them? "Shinji scored a similar goal against Schalke last season. His technique was outstanding to chip the ball in so precisely. Andrey's goal was super too. It was pretty much the only option he had, but he executed it perfectly. We're happy about these two goals."
How do you assess this first part of the season?
"We've won six of our seven games. That gives us a very good feeling. We know that we have a super team and that everything works when we put into practice what the coach wants from us. It was important that we won today. Now we can head into the international break with a very good feeling." Recorded by Christina Reinke
