Handball international Patrick Wiencek celebrated the biggest success of his career in December when he helped record champions THW Kiel win the Champions League. But away from the court, the 2018 Handball Player of the Year is a passionate BVB supporter – as he explained in the latest episode of the BVB podcast.

Football is part of everyday life for the THW Kiel handballers: German Patrick Wiencek, who has been a Kiel player since 2012, has a little kickaround with his team-mates to warm up for almost every training session. "I'm probably not the best footballer," admitted the 31-year-old, who prefers to watch his BVB in action instead. The 2.01m-tall defensive specialist even has a Borussia Dortmund season ticket.

Speaking on the latest episode of our podcast, the Duisburg native revealed how he became a BVB fan, where his handball team-mates' soccer sympathies lie and what he made of Holstein Kiel's victory over Bayern Munich in the DFB Cup.
