Manuel Akanji is back on the training ground. Whether the Swiss player will be an option for the league tie against Wolfsburg on Saturday, head coach Lucien Favre was reluctant to disclose. Abdou Diallo will still be out for a few days.

In the Cup tie against Union Berlin on Wednesday, Diallo suffered a groin strain injury and will therefore miss training over the next few days. The club, along with his fellow defensive players Lukasz Piszczek, Marcel Schmelzer and Jeremy Toljan, will have to do without him in Wolfsburg. Dan-Axel Zagadou has also taken a knock.

Furthermore, Mario Götze will not be able to travel to Wolfsburg due to bronchitis.

Still, there is faint hope for Akanji's return. "He trained with six or seven other players today who did not play yesterday," said Favre, "but it's too early to make any decisions." (Br)
