Eight Black & Yellows were in action for their national teams on Sunday and Monday – and almost all of them tasted victory. Giovanni Reyna enjoyed the biggest triumph.

Germany steamrollered Latvia 7-1 in their final pre-EURO 2020 friendly on Monday evening. Mats Hummels started in the middle of a back three and set up Serge Gnabry for the fifth goal with a pass with the outside of his foot. Emre Can came on as a 61st-minute substitute for former Dortmund man Ilkay Gündogan.

A day earlier, the USA had won the Nations League organised by the continental association CONCACAF. Giovanni Reyna scored the USA's first goal to level the scores at 1-1 in the 3-2 final victory over Mexico. He also got the assist for Weston McKennie's goal. The winner was scored by former BVB player Christian Pulisic from the penalty spot in extra-time.

On the eve of the European Championships, England beat Romania by a 1-0 scoreline. Jadon Sancho was included in the starting XI and came off in the 65th minute, to be replaced by his Borussia Dortmund team-mate Jude Bellingham. Both players were denied by the woodwork during the game.

Thomas Delaney came off in the 59th minute of Denmark's 2-0 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Thorgan Hazard made a substitute appearance for Belgium in the 71st minute of their meeting with Croatia, which the "Red Devils" won 1-0. Thomas Meunier was an unused substitute. Axel Witsel, who is still working towards his comeback, was not in the squad.

Striker Erling Haaland played the full 90 minutes as the Norwegian national team was beaten 2-1 by Greece. (cr)
