After the friendly defeat to Athletic Bilbao (2-0), BVB coach Marco Rose spoke about the injuries to Marius Wolf, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Mahmoud Dahoud and Giovanni Reyna, while Erling Haaland was delighted to get his first minutes of playing time this preseason.

Marco Rose: ''It was a good test overall, as we were playing against a strong team. I think that once again the boys showed a lot of energy out on the pitch, which is something I'm happy about. We played well in the first three or four minutes. Then we had a phase in which we were too untidy. That's an issue that we'll have to work on. That aside, there were a few things I saw that are really important and good for our play.''

''It doesn't make sense to give a prognosis about the injured players so soon after a game. We have to examine the lads first. But I do believe that the injuries mean that we'll have to make do without them for a certain period of time. We think we've taken pre-emptive action with Gio."

Erling Haaland: ''It's good to be back and to play my first game of preseason. The result obviously wasn't good, but that's not what it's about. It goes without saying that we want to win, but getting to run and play with the team and work on certain situations is good. The season starts in two weeks, and we're going to be well prepared for it.''
