Achraf Hakimi collected the "African Youth Player of the Year" award from the African Football Association (CAF) on Tuesday evening in Hurghada, Egypt.

The 21-year-old Moroccan left BVB’s training camp on Tuesday morning in Marbella, Spain and flew to Egypt in order to attend the award ceremony. At the "CAF Awards 2019", Hakimi took home the newcomer award, beating off competition from two Nigerians, Victor Osimhen (Lille OSC) and Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal CF). Hakimi was also selected in the 2019 African team of the year. Hakimi is expected back in Marbella with the new trophy in his luggage on Wednesday afternoon.
