BVB team captain Mats Hummels comments in the training camp in Dubai about their targets in the second half of the season. In addition he says who his choice would be for the World Footballer of the year

How big is the urge for the team to get back to playing football?
Mats Hummels: „you can tell in training that all the players are fresh and are really going for it. It's just the right attitude to have“

What targets and aims will BVB have to go back into the second half of the season?
Hummels: „we want to be playing on three fronts. We have drawn two very difficult opponents in VfB Stuttgart in the DFB Cup and FC Porto in the Europa League. These will be very difficult matches, but very nice challenges. We want to be in both Cup competitions in May and make sure we are in second place in the Bundesliga.

And what are your personal targets?

Hummels: „I want to latch on to the level of performances that I played at in  the first half of the season. I just want to avoid those two or three mistakes that lead to us conceding goals. But there will always be mistakes, otherwise every match would end 0-0.

How much do you judge yourself against FC Bayern?

Hummels: „Since 2012 they have performed at an incredible level. This season is another example of what they can achieve. FC Bayern , FC Barcelona and maybe Real Madrid are the strongest teams in the world. You  have to show them respect. If you play against them you have to show that you can beat them."

Who  is the best player in the world?

Hummels: „I have played against them  all by now. For me it is just a simple decision. Lionel Messi is the best footballer. He's not that bad. He has a quality that no one else has."

How do  you evaluate the confrontation against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday?
Hummels: „we'll have to see whether they have also made some alterations to their team for this match. The line-ups will be different. We have three players that are suspended. It will be a difficult test. But neither team will be at 100% yet. It will be a very good test, but will not show either team at their full force.
