Roman Bürki: "We actually made a good start and implemented our game well. But then Cologne got tougher, played with more physicality. We seemed to have difficulties dealing with that, and that's how they then took the lead following a set-piece. We were given a tough game, especially in the first half. In the interval, we spoke about the fact that Cologne wouldn't be able to keep up the tempo for 90 minutes. And that's what happened. We knew that we would get chances, and I'm delighted that we were able to score three cool goals. I'm happy that we managed to win a difficult match away from home. On a footballing level, there's no opponent we should fear and we showed that again today."

Julian Brandt: "It was very, very difficult today. Cologne were on good form and they played a superb first half. They had a good atmosphere behind them which constantly spurred them on. You could see how difficult that was for us. At the beginning of the second period, we got that under better control, had a greater share of possession and thankfully scored the three goals. For me, it was a release to finally get back on the pitch. I gave my best and it's good to know that the lads on the bench can provide the fresh legs we need."

Marco Reus: "It was the difficult game we'd expected. One has to admit that our performance in the opening half wasn't good; we didn't play well on the whole and lost possession of the ball frequently. After going 1-0 down, it took some time to gather ourselves. We said in the interval that we simply needed to be more aggressive and show more attacking prowess. The good substitutions enabled us to apply even more pressure. If we get the opportunities to score, then we need to take them. That worked out well today. But it doesn't just happen by itself, it all requires lots of hard work. I think that we then showed a good reaction in the second half. In the end, the victory was a fair result."
