Jürgen Klopp was very pleased with his team’s performance in their friendly against MSV Duisburg on Tuesday night. The BVB coach shared his thoughts in a post-game interview.

What’s your verdict on the 6-1 win over MSV Duisburg?

I’m very pleased. We saw two teams that worked hard in attack. We were clearly the better side. Defensively, we left a few questions unanswered, but four days before the Bundesliga restart that is actually fine with me. This way, I can show some video footage in the next couple of days of things I didn’t like much. Fortunately, none of the players got injured, we won the last friendly and didn’t show any weakness.

How would you assess the form of the team at the moment?

It varies from player to player. One or two are surely still weary from the tough preparation but that’s totally normal. For example, some players got sick during the preparation, and it shows. For Marcel Schmelzer and Lukasz Piszczek, who had been out so long with injury and missed the pre-season in the summer, it was the first “real” preparation this season. I will have a final look in the next couple of days. Our job is to find the right choice of players for Saturday’s game.

BVB’s transitional play looked much better than in the previous friendlies. What’s the reason for it?

That was because the players had a rest. Some of the lads are a lot fresher than a few days ago. Overall, this really looked a lot better. It was one of the things we wanted to change.  You can see improvement which is very positive.
