The German Football League (DFL) announced on 16 March that Matchday 27 of the Bundesliga season would be suspended. That means that as it stands, the league is on a break up to and including 2 April 2020.

This decision was reached by the DFL Executive Committee and the representatives of the 36 first and second tier clubs at an Ordinary Assembly.

In the last week of March, a decision is to be reached on how to proceed with reference to the match schedule. To this end, a further Ordinary Assembly is planned, at which it will then be possible to take both further developments in general and UEFA's decision regarding a possible postponement of the European Championships into account.
