Youssoufa Moukoko has been in the Borussia Dortmund starting line-up for the last two games. In "ALL IN", the Dortmund player speaks with BVB TV by 1&1 about feedback from the fans, how he learns from mistakes and how he has prepared himself for the match against Freiburg.
Youssoufa Moukoko made his first start of the season in the 3-1 home victory against VfL Bochum and was also on the pitch from the beginning in the 0-0 draw in Heidenheim. Beforehand, the Borussia player had received a lot of encouragement from the Black & Yellow fans on social media after his two goals against Darmstadt (3-0) and Köln (4-0).
"I used to read everything about myself to begin with, but at some stage you reach a point where you only concentrate on your performance," said the 19-year-old, who is nonetheless aware of the general mood following his two goals. "I am of course very happy when I notice that."
Although Moukoko has not scored any goals in his last two appearances as part of a strike partnership with Niclas Füllkrug, he believes he is on a good path – and the Borussia player cites a missed opportunity against Bochum as an example: "Jadon plays to Fülle in the box. The ball then comes to me very nicely, I wanted to make a flick but it didn't work out the same way as in Darmstadt. You learn from such mistakes. In the next game, you know that you simply need to pull the trigger in such situations. I believe it would've been a goal, 100%."
"Be present from the start until the last minute"
The Borussia player also conducts a detailed analysis of unconvincing performances like the recent one in the draw against Heidenheim. "We were all disappointed with ourselves. We didn't play the way we set out to. Of course, you do ask yourself the whole time on the journey home: what did I do wrong? I watched the full game back the next day, I wanted to see my actions and mistakes, and what I can do better."
Following that analysis, the Borussia player will go into Friday's clash with Freiburg in a positive mood: "From now on, we simply have to do better and get the three points. Freiburg have a good team and we know that they will demand everything from us. We have to be present from the start until the last minute. We're a good team and can play good football, and we want to show that on Friday." You can watch the full video on BVB TV by 1&1: ALL IN with Youssoufa Moukoko
