Borussia Dortmund's players and coaches were greeted with rapturous applause as they ran out onto the pitch of the youth academy ground in Dortmund-Brackel on Wednesday afternoon. For more than a year, no public training sessions had been able to take place due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Now the players were finally able to interact with the fans again as part of a training session.

Several hundred spectators sat in the stands and watched Dan-Axel Zagadou and Soumaila Coulibaly train with the team for the first time after their long rehab. However, both are being introduced slowly and only completed parts of the team training session. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was absent due to individual load management.

Under the guidance of Marco Rose and his coaching team, the players followed the warm-up with a passing drill. Then it was four-on-four and eleven-on-eleven - all to the great delight of the fans in the stands. (cr)
