Rüdiger Petzold, who was born on 3 January 1943, joined the football club in 1977 and served as deputy president from March 1979 to September 1983. "During this time, he put a lot of effort into the various departments within our club," said president Dr. Reinhard Rauball.

Rüdiger Petzold was a Borusse through and through, dedicating himself to his BVB for years and proving to be an outstanding servant to Borussia Dortmund. In his youth, he was a successful handball player who even represented the German national team at youth level. Rüdiger Petzold spent the last years of his life at his retirement home in Fuerteventura.

BVB will forever hold fond memories of their former board member.
