Jadon Sancho and the England national team successfully booked their place at the 2020 European Championship finals on Thursday evening. Meanwhile, Leonardo Balerdi got on the scoresheet as the Argentina U23s ran riot in a one-sided friendly victory.

Jadon Sancho played the full 90 minutes as the England national team delivered a gala performance in the penultimate fixture of their EURO qualifying campaign. The Three Lions stormed to a 7-0 victory over Montenegro in what was the 1,000th match in their history, with Sancho setting up the seventh and final goal for Chelsea's Tammy Abraham. England will be joined at the finals by Czechia, who have secured second spot in Group A.

Raphael Guerreiro and Portugal will have to wait a little longer for confirmation of their place at the finals, however. Guerreiro was an unused substitute as Portugal romped to a 6-0 victory over Lithuania, but their participation in the European Championship is not yet confirmed and they still need three points in their final qualifier in Luxembourg on Sunday to be sure of a place.

There was another thrashing involving a Borussia Dortmund player on Thursday night: BVB defender Leonardo Ballerdi featured in a 14-0 win for the Argentina U23s against a team from the Canary Islands. Balerdi himself got on the scoresheet during the demolition, opening the scoring on the six-minute mark.
