Borussia Dortmund will play a benefit match against top Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on 26 April.

At present, everything else has to take a back seat to this issue: Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine, which violates international law, has claimed thousands of victims within a few weeks. Countless people have lost their homes, millions are on the run. Borussia Dortmund is committed to helping and making at least a small contribution to supporting the Ukrainians. For this reason, BVB will play against the Ukrainian top club Dynamo Kyiv at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on 26 April for a good cause.

"Football is the most beautiful pastime in the world. But there are things that are so much more important. Peace, health, home, education. Right in the middle of Europe, all this can no longer be taken for granted. And that hurts a lot. We stand by the Ukrainians, together with the BVB family we have already brought many tons of relief supplies to the country and now we also want to collect money," said Borussia Dortmund's CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke. Managing Director Carsten Cramer underlined: "We ask all of you, whether you support BVB or another team. Whether you are a football fan or not - please buy a ticket for our charity match against Dynamo Kyiv. Let us together send a signal of solidarity against war and for peace in Europe that is noticed all around the world. And above all, let us help the people still there together. The net proceeds of this benefit match will go to an organisation that we are currently carefully selecting and which will ensure that Ukrainians in need are helped directly. That's what we stand for as BVB."

"The benefit match will take place three days after our away match in Munich. But even if it had taken place three days before that match, we would definitely have still played this match. Nothing is more important at the moment than standing up together for peace and helping the Ukrainians in times of this humanitarian catastrophe," said BVB coach Marco Rose, adding: "We are happy about every single football fan, no matter what colours they wear, and about every single person who buys a ticket to help the Ukrainians who have been hit so hard by the war."

Last night, Borussia Dortmund reached a last-minute agreement with Dynamo Kyiv to host the match and invited the team as well as the Ukrainian club's coaching and support staff to Dortmund. BVB is currently talking to UEFA about the kick-off time - since it is an international match date - and is clarifying all details concerning the advance ticketing details. We will publish this information via our channels as soon as it is finalised.
