With their 1-0 victory in Bruges, Borussia Dortmund brought an end to a run of six away games without a win in the UEFA Champions League.

Substitute's goal: Lucien Favre once more played an ace card from the bench to get the win. Christian Pulisic's goal was the third time in five competitive matches so far this season that a substitute has come on to score a goal, with Axel Witsel (to make it 1-1 in the cup against Fürth) and Paco Alcácer (3-1 against Frankfurt, the goal for 2-1 was also assisted by substitute Sancho) also getting their names on the scoresheet.

Stamina: Late goals from Axel Witsel (95' in Fürth), Marco Reus (120' in Fürth, 91' against Leipzig), Paco Alcácer (88' against Frankfurt) and now Christian Pulisic (85') mean that five of the nine BVB goals scored in competitive matches this season have come in the 85th minute or later.

On top in the end: With a 14:12 goal chance ratio and 62 percent possession, BVB had the better of the statistics in the Jan Breydel Stadium. The Black and Yellows also had their noses in front when it came to tackles won (51%).

Run of form in Belgium: After 2014 (3-0 at RSC Anderlecht) and 2004 (1-0 in Genk) Borussia Dortmund celebrated their third away win in succession in neighbouring Belgium, going 315 minutes without conceding in the process. After defeats in 1987 (5-0 AET) and 2003 (2-1) it was BVB's first success away to FC Brugge.

Birthday celebrations: On the day of his 20th birthday, Christian Pulisic played his 100th competitive match for Borussia Dortmund and scored his 13th goal for the club.

Away win: Borussia Dortmund won an away match in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since October 2016, when they beat Sporting Lisbon 2-1.(br)
