In their post-match interviews, Borussia Dortmund's players unanimously agreed the decision to send off Abdou Diallo in their 1-1 draw at Hoffenheim was excessive. Players and officials alike also criticised the performance. Here are the match reactions.

Marco Reus: "No way was that a red card. Abdou was clearly the first player to the ball and headed it to the keeper. Both had their arms raised. I never say something about such a situation due to the video assistant referee, but I would've liked to see him correct it on this occasion. Everyone in the stadium could see it wasn't a red."

Christian Pulisic: "We actually started fairly well in the opening 15 minutes, but then it got difficult. Hoffenheim got the goal, but then we tried and tried. The red card was a blow for us, but we subsequently got the goal. It was okay."

Lucien Favre: "That was not a red-card foul. We had a decent foothold in the first 25 minutes – but then we weren't good for a long spell. Every loss of possession led to a dangerous counter-attack for Hoffenheim. After 60 minutes we woke up again and played the ball forward a little more, and things gradually got better. After the red card everyone thought it was over for us. And yet we still came back. We can be satisfied with a 1-1 draw. We know that."

Michael Zorc: "It's difficult to deal with the behaviour of the spectators; the best way is via dialogue of course. We spoke with Hoffenheim in the run-up to this match in an attempt to have a de-escalatory effect. We need to apologise as a club for what we've seen happen here today.
