There's only a week to go until pre-season starts. One Black & Yellow who is already raring to go is new signing Thomas Meunier. The Belgian paid a visit to our BVB TV Studio and had a chat with Patrick Owomoyela.

"It's always something exciting because it's a new adventure for me. I can hardly wait to get started," said Meunier ahead of the start of the season with BVB. "Axel and Thorgan have told me a lot about the club, about the football here, about the team mates and the fans. This is something new for me and I want to finally experience it for myself now."

The defender, who by his own admission is ambitious, is about to start his 10th pre-season as a professional footballer. "In my head I always have the same idea; I want to play until I can't run anymore. I'm just happy to be here, to play, and to take part in pre-season. Because that means I'm still involved in the game," Meunier said.

Meunier actually started his career as a striker. But when the right-back injured himself at his first professional club in Bruges, the coaching staff asked him to fulfil the role. "Do what you can do and don't think about it too much," they told him. "And I played perfectly and never left that position again," Meunier said as he recalled the positional switch.

The right-back additionally spoke with Owomoyela, himself also a former right-back, about other things they had in common, the influence "Agent Axel" Witsel had on the transfer and the moving story behind the choice of his shirt number 24.
