Thomas Tuchel said after the 0-1 against Athletico Bilbao: "we were very tired and we found it difficult all around: we didn't manage to achieve what we intended to achieve. We didn't manage to get the better of a physically strong opponent." He said he sees there is a "lot of potential".

The Head Coach only wanted to partly use the prior nine intensive training sessions since Wednesday in Bad Ragaz as an excuse for the weak performance. "At the moment we are not able to cope with the intensive training well enough. One of the reasons for this is of course that for some players this is the fifth week of pre-season, for others it is the first week."

You can "definitely tell" these individual differences, so Tuchel says: "the same thing applies to the fact that we come from different cultures and are accustomed to different training patterns. I get the feeling that we do want to achieve the highest level, however we don't quite manage to achieve that level after such an intensive training camp. There is no doubt that we can do better."

Looking ahead to the Supercup against Bayern Munich, the Head Coach had the following to say: "if we analyse the game today, then it would be very much in our interest not to set our expectations too high for Sunday." (br)
