Borussia Dortmund's U15s have gotten to know a new culture and competed against top sporting talents by travelling to China to take part in the "Hooray Cup" in Xiamen.

The U15s' trip to China is part of the partnership between Borussia Dortmund and the "Hooray Island Resort", which is also the host and organiser of the tournament. Together, the two partners founded the "BVB International Academy China" in 2022 in order to discover and develop Chinese football talents. As part of this cooperation, four BVB coaches are permanently on site and exchange visits also take place.

Starting on 2 October, the Black & Yellow talents will play four group matches against River Plate from Argentina, Hanoi FC of Vietnam, Brisbane United FC from Australia and Chinese Football Boy from China. Should the U15s advance to the semi-finals, that tie will be played on 8 October. The placement matches will take place one day later.

The sporting aspect is the main focus of their trip, but the young players will also gain cultural impressions during their stay. After the tournament, the team will make a stop-off in Shanghai to get to know one of China's most vibrant cities.

"We're excited and looking forward to the upcoming tournament in China," said U15 coach Andreas Bona. "It is not only a good opportunity for our boys to test themselves in sporting terms against international teams, but also a great chance to experience and understand a different culture. I'm sure this trip will leave a lasting impression on our players."

In addition to the coaching staff, the team will be accompanied by colleagues from the Football Academy and the International Department at BVB. In addition, staff from BVB's two Asian offices in Singapore and Shanghai will be on location.
