Midweek fixtures all round in the junior-level Bundesligas: on Wednesday, the Borussia U19s will travel to face Borussia Mönchengladbach (kick-off 16:00 CET) with their counterparts in the U17s hosting FC Schalke 04 at the youth performance centre in Brackel (kick-off 18:00 CET).

Michael Skibbe's charges will face a Mönchengladbach side that have started the season with two wins from two matches. The trip will be made all the more daunting by the absence of the injured Immanuel Pherai, Niclas Knoop and Lloyd Kuffour. Coach Skippe will be hoping to see a reaction from his players after their 2-0 defeat to 1. FC Cologne at the weekend.

U17 coach Sebastian Geppert, for his part, can boast a full complement of players for the derby encounter with Schalke. BVB have claimed top spot in the table after two matchdays, with Schalke hot on their heels having also won their opening two matches. ''We obviously want to win the derby, but we know that Schalke are a lot stronger than they were last season,'' said Geppert. (wiwi)
