Borussia Dortmund's U19s have successfully defended top spot in the Bundesliga West despite drawing 2-2 at Wuppertaler SV after rivals Schalke 04 were surprisingly defeated 2-0 at Rot-Weiss Essen.

Etienne Amenyido scored both goals in Wuppertal. A home win over RW Oberhausen next Sunday (kick-off 13:00 CET in Brackel) will see BVB seal their place in the Final Round of the German Championship.

The U17s, meanwhile, beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-0 courtesy of goals from Julius Schell, Alaa Bakir, Maik Reimer and an own goal to reach the Final Round of the German Championship for the fourth consecutive year. They will face Werder Bremen, winners of the Bundesliga Nord/Nordost, over two legs on 7 and 11 June. (wiwi)
