Due to one of the coaching staff catching coronavirus, the black and yellow youth team were forced to take their first break in the current season over the past few days. Both the away match at SV Lippstadt and the home match against Fortuna Düsseldorf's second team had to be cancelled. On Saturday, after 14 days without a match and in some cases without any training, the boys will be playing for points again in the Regionalliga West game against Fortuna Köln.

BVB can expect a tightly fought contest against opposition of a similar calibre. BVB have picked up 20 points from eight games and lie second in the table, while Fortuna Köln are in fourth, having managed 18 points from nine games.

Along with RW Essen, Fortuna Köln are among the favourites for promotion from the Regionalliga West. After relegation from the third tier in 2019, head coach Alexander Ende's team are now looking to attack the top of the table and they have made their intentions clear with their signings from the third division.

The BVB defenders will need to pay special attention to centre-forward Roman Prokoph, who has scored three times so far this season. The 35-year-old brings with him the experience of 15 Bundesliga matches and 10 games in Austria's top division.

BVB were able to win the most recent meeting between the sides in Cologne's Südstadion 2-0. Kick-off for their next clash in the same stadium will be at 14:00 CET on Saturday. (tl)
