The two most in-form teams this year are set to go head-to-head on Matchday 34 of the Regionalliga West. Both the Borussia Dortmund U23s and Preußen Münster are unbeaten in 2021. The two teams have strung together excellent series of results coming into the game. Kick-off at the Preußenstadion is scheduled for 18:30 CET.

Borussia Dortmund have picked up 30 points from 12 games in 2021, while Preußen Münster have amassed 27 from 11. Münster, currently third in the table, are unbeaten in their last 12 matches, but have had to share the spoils in three of their six. Preußen's last win came a week ago against SV Straelen (3-1).

BVB face another busy schedule this week, while their opponents from Münster had the Easter weekend off. A win will see the Black & Yellows' points total rise to 77 after 32 matchdays. No other Dortmund U23 team have picked up so many points in as many matchdays. In fact, the last time BVB II reached 32 points in a season was under coach Theo Schneider in the 2005/06 Oberliga, a campaign which ended in promotion to the former Regionalliga North. The current Black & Yellows still have some work ahead of them if they are to match this achievement.

"We're taking it game by game," said Franz Pfanne in a recent interview. This approach has certainly paid off so far this season. It was Pfanne who scored the all-important second goal on the stroke of half-time in the return fixture in November 2020. Before that, Alaa Bakir had fired BVB to an early lead with a goal in the sixth minute. In the end, the Black & Yellows put in a formidable performance and notched up a convincing win over coach Sascha Hildmann's team, who played in the 3. Liga last season. Münster's leading scorer Alexander Langlitz didn't feature back in November; he will also miss out on Wednesday's match due to suspension. Nonetheless, the hosts' squad has a healthy blend of experienced players and promising talents from the youth set-up. 18-year-old Deniz-Fabian Bindemann, who has now been named in the starting line-up in four Regionalliga matches, recently scored his first goal for the club. A total of seven players from the youth set-up turned out in the club's most recent game against Straelen.

BVB won't be able to call on the injured Maximilian Hippe, Taylan Duman, Moritz Broschinski and Patrick Osterhage.
