Matchday 13 of the 3. Liga season sees Borussia Dortmund host Viktoria Cologne this Sunday. Kick-off at Stadion Rote Erde will be at 13:00 CET.

The men from the Rhineland are falling short of their own expectations this term, and occupy 18th spot in the table with 10 points from 12 games. Coach Olaf Janssen's charges have registered only two wins to date, drawing four times and losing on six occasions. Their last outings against Wiesbaden and Würzburg both ended in 1-1 draws. Furthermore, the Cologne outfit have the third-worst defence and have been the worst-performing away team too (one point from six games). Their top scorer is Simon Handle with four goals. Veteran Marcel Risse, who formerly played for the likes of 1. FC Cologne in the Bundesliga, is the top provider with four goals. But perhaps the most interesting player is 18-year-old Youssef Amyn. Half-German and half-Iraqi, he was with the Dortmund academy until 2020 and has already played 11 league games this season (two goals and one assist). He also became a Germany U19 international this year.

The BVB U23s, meanwhile, suffered a 4-2 away defeat to Braunschweig last weekend. "We actually put in a good performance but did not get our reward in the form of a point," said BVB boss Enrico Maassen after the final whistle. Despite the defeat, his team are still in second place in the division.

The personnel situation in the Black & Yellow camp has changed slightly since the last game. Following the return of Marco Hober to the squad in Braunschweig last time out, Florian Krebs and Moritz Broschinski could also make their comebacks at the weekend. It remains to be seen whether Stefan Drljaca and Cebrail Makreckis will be available. Tobias Raschl will not, however, having injured his knee against Braunschweig.

The last home game against Viktoria Cologne in August 2018 ended in a 2-2 draw.
