He's the fastest man in the world. Nobody has run the 100 metres in less than 9.6 seconds. Except Usain Bolt (9.58 seconds), the exceptional Jamaican athlete who has won eight Olympic gold medals and 11 World Championship titles. He retired from track and field in 2017.

On Thursday, Usain Bolt finally fulfilled a long-held dream by participating in a training session with eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund. It will be followed by a second, public session on Friday.

The occasion has been made possible by the international break. Following two intense training sessions on both Tuesday and Wednesday, the coach and the BVB first-team players not called up by their respective national teams and still in Dortmund eagerly awaited the visit of former sprinter. Peter Stöger currently only has nine fit players from the first-team squad to work with.

It now already one and a half years ago since Usain Bolt first got in touch with Borussia Dortmund and that contact stepped up once his career finished. The international break is now the perfect time for all parties to implement the project. On Thursday, the 31-year-old trained with the BVB players for the first time and he is hoping for a serious assessment from the coaching staff to find out whether, in addition to his speed, he has the required talent as a player.

On Friday, there will be a second training session with Usain Bolt. It will begin at 10:30 CET at the "Jugendstadion" (Pitch 1) at the BVB Training Ground in Brackel and is open to the general public. However, we wish to emphasise there will be a restricted number of places for spectators! Entry begins at 9:30 CET and will take place exclusively via the entrance displayed in the image below. (br)
