Borussia Dortmund's Chief Executive Officer, Hans-Joachim Watzke (60), was voted onto the board of the ECA (European Club Association) at the organisation's AGM this morning.

A total of 29 clubs from Europe's top five leagues were represented at the meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland. Watzke's election onto the board was unanimous: ''I'm delighted about the election and the trust that has been placed in me. Playing an active role in the discussion as we work towards a footballing landscape that is as balanced as possible is something which is deeply important to me.''

The ECA is an independent body which represents the interests of various European football clubs. The ECA seeks to, among other things, promote European football at club level.
