Our Bundesliga youth teams will continue their preparations for the upcoming season with friendly matches against Hamburger SV (U19, Sunday, 2 14:00 CET) and Karlsruher SC (U17, Sunday, 11:00 CET at the club's training centre in Brackel).

The U19 friendly match will not take place in Brackel as initially reported. Instead, the venue for Sunday's match-up will be the Walkenfeld Brake Rasen stadium in Lemgo. Kick-off is scheduled for 14:00 CET.

Although Mike Tullberg has at least seven regular players unavailable, he has refrained from cancelling the clash with HSV. "This way, all the other boys have the chance to show what they can do and make a name for themselves," said the U19 head coach. The personnel situation was similar a fortnight ago in the match against Hannover 96 (a 2-0 win for BVB).

The team will play its first competitive match on the weekend of 28/29 August away to Viktoria Berlin in the DFB-Pokal. "It is our goal to play the first and the last game in this competition in Berlin," said Tullberg. The DFB-Pokal final is scheduled to take place in Berlin on 22 May. BVB have never won the cup at U19 level.

The newly formed U17s started their series of friendly matches with a 4-0 win over Wehen Wiesbaden. The boys can look forward to a further test against Karlsruher SC from the south Bundesliga. (wiwi)
