Yesterday's Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) matchday took place at the Straßenkicker Base in Cologne. Fans were allowed to attend for the first time. On the virtual pitch, BVB dropped important points in the battle for the play-offs.

The BVB team bus, players, staff and 20 fans set off for Cologne in the early afternoon with a clear mission. Three points were required in the encounter with Holstein Kiel in order for the Black & Yellows to remain in control of their own destiny as they bid to reach the VBL play-offs.

The game started positively for BVB, as the duo of Roee Feldman and Alihan Kösecik won the opening game 2-1 to set up a good starting position. The Strassenkicker Base, filled with fans decked out in Black & Yellow, erupted in celebration. However, the tide turned in the second game, with Bradley Destoop falling to a deserved 3-0 defeat to Kiel's Julius Kühle. Roee Feldman now had to win the deciding game to secure three points. However, the encounter ended 2-2, meaning BVB had to make do with just one point.

Next Tuesday (5 March) will reveal whether Borussia Dortmund will reach the play-offs of the VBL Club Championship. BVB will face leaders Werder Bremen in a do-or-die match-up on Matchday 34. The current gap to eighth place, which is the final qualifying spot for the play-offs, is two points.

As usual, the game can be followed live on Twitch
