Speaking to sky after the victory over FC Augsburg, the Dortmund players spoke of a strenuous effort. "We wanted to win the game – it didn't matter how", summarised Gonzalo Castro.

Roman Bürki: "These weeks with the extra fixture in midweek have cost us a lot of energy. That was clear to see today, especially in the second half. The trainer said to us in advance that we had to make it clear we wanted to win the game at any cost. We battled and were victorious. However, we were not as concentrated as we have been and frequently gave away possession or hoofed balls long up field. Things became difficult as a consequence. Augsburg really pressed hard. If you take a look at the table right now, it looks good. But it is still much too early to speak with certainty. Games like the one today in which we battle and force ourselves to work hard, those are the important ones."

Gonzalo Castro: "It is never easy to win in Augsburg, we know that from recent seasons. Augsburg are doing really well right now, have a lot of self-confidence, and that is how they played today. We wanted to win the game today – it didn't matter how. Auba has scored many goals in the last few weeks and years. A missed penalty like that will happen now and again."

Manuel Baum (FC Augsburg Manager): "We deserved a point from today's game. Yet here we are, empty handed, even though there was something in that game for us." (cr)
