A spectacular second period at the Commerzbank-Arena produced 25 shots on goal (13 for Borussia Dortmund, 12 for Frankfurt), which is more than any other half across the division this season. The final count was 20-15 in favour of BVB, who had 62 percent possession and won 53 percent of the challenges but squandered a two-goal lead for the first time in three years. Here we bring you the match facts.

Unbeaten on the road: Borussia Dortmund are the only team in the division yet to taste defeat on their travels.

Squandered lead: The last time BVB blew a two-goal lead was almost three years ago, when they drew 2-2 in Paderborn in November 2014.

Deadlock-breakers: The Black & Yellows have scored the first goal in eight of their nine games this season. They have yet to concede first in a Bundesliga game this term, having drawn the other match 0-0 with Freiburg.

On the mark: Maximilian Philipp scored his fifth goal of the season, though it was the first time he has scored for BVB in the Bundesliga away from home.

Landmark occasion: Mario Götze made his 100th Bundesliga appearance in a BVB shirt, setting up Philipp for the second goal.

Unfamiliar territory: Julian Weigl made his first-ever professional appearance at centre-back and won a solid 71 percent of his challenges despite being out of position.

Young debutant: Jadon Sancho is now the youngest player to have featured this season. He and Hamburg's Arp are the only players born this century to have played in the German top flight, though Sancho is almost four months younger than the HSV man.

Wearing the armband: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang captained BVB in a Bundesliga match for the third time in Frankfurt. The Gabon forward scored on both other occasions, netting in the 3-0 home victory over HSV in April and in the 3-3 draw in Ingolstadt in October 2016.
