Speaking to sky, Peter Bosz described the opening stages – in which his side conceded two goals to Real Madrid – as "bad". Later, though, the Black & Yellows played some very good football in spells. Perhaps, the coach said, there could have been more in it for them.

"We made a bad start. But after that we saw a team that played football and worked together," the Dutchman said to the media, although he did emphasise that such a bad start cannot be allowed to happen. "We discussed how we wanted to be very compact. You saw that we didn't play as high up as we usually do. But if you're not playing so high up, then you need to be very aggressive. We weren't at the beginning, which is why it was easy for Madrid to score two goals. After that we had a lot of goalscoring opportunities, but only converted one of them. In the second period, we started brightly again."

Bosz declared that the upcoming games would demonstrate how much confidence the team had taken from their display in the Spanish capital. "Once again we showed that we can play football against a team like that at the Bernabeu and we did very well at times. We want to be winning games and playing good football again, then we'll be able to progress far in the Europa League."
