Borussia Dortmund ended their joint-longest winless run in Europe by beating Atalanta 3-2, while Michy Batshuayi wrote himself into the history books. Here we bring you the match facts.

Goal-getter: Michy Batshuayi has scored five goals in his first three games for BVB. No other player – including the likes of Manfred Burgsmüller, Lothar Emmerich, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Robert Lewandowski or Marcio Amoroso – has ever managed that before.

Winless run over: BVB finally recorded a victory at European level to bring their eight-match winless run to an end. It was their joint-longest winless run, equaling the eight-game streak between 15 October 2003 (1-0 win over Austria Vienna) and 19 August 2010 (4-0 over Qarabag). The defeats during that run came at the hands of Sochaux, Genk, Olomouc and Udinese, although the eighth game was only "lost" on penalties.

The magic number: The Black & Yellows scored three goals for the second time in nine competitive games under Peter Stöger.

Comeback: As they did in their last home win in European competition – an 8-4 victory over Legia Warsaw in November 2016 – BVB came from behind to record the victory.

Italian job: BVB have a 100 percent record of reaching the next round after beating an Italian team in the first leg. But it's only happened once, when they beat AC Milan 5-3 on aggregate in 2002.

Beaten: It was Atalanta's first Europa League defeat this season. In their previous six games, they had won four times and recorded two draws. (br)
