Roman Bürki set a new Bundesliga record for the season by making 11 saves against Borussia Mönchengladbach, and now has more clean sheets in 2017/18 than any other shot-stopper in the division (nine). He appeared understandably satisfied as he gave an interview to BVBtotal!: "The key was keeping a clean sheet," he said, "plus a super goal from Marco".

Roman, many congratulations on the away victory and your performance. How satisfied are you?
"Definitely satisfied, because we kept a clean sheet and scored an important goal. That was the key in this game, on that pitch."

What was your take on the game?
"I'm hurting all over, that shows it was a hard victory. But that's part and parcel of the game. It was difficult to play football on this pitch. I've honestly never experienced a surface like it anywhere else, it was extremely difficult to play on. That's why we had to play a lot of long balls. In the first half we won some of the 'second balls', but after the break we won very few."

You took a knock from Bobadilla relatively early in the match. How are you feeling?
"At the time there was a bit of pain perhaps, there was a bit of shock involved too. But it has not had a lasting negative effect."

You also slipped over once or twice on the long balls. How difficult was the pitch for you as a goalkeeper?
"It was very difficult. Especially for dead balls, it was more difficult to position to ball well. The lads helped me out, though, they didn't play the ball back to me too much. But the short and low passing game was just really not easy."

Marco scored the deciding goal. There was little your international team-mate Yann Sommer could do about that, was there?
"Of course, I know Marco and his shooting technique. It's outstanding and difficult for every goalkeeper. I didn't get such a clear view of it, but I believe it struck the underside of the bar before going in. It was a super goal from Marco." (djg)
