Michy Batshuayi scored twice from the bench, putting the hosts 2-1 and 3-2 ahead against Eintracht Frankfurt. And he was not disappointed to have begun among the substitutes. "I was tired from the last few games and it allowed me to come on fresh." Here are the initial match reactions.

Peter Stöger: "When you score the winner in the 94th minute, you need an element of luck. For the first time in weeks or maybe even months, we produced a strong first-half performance. We showed that we can play some good football. Frankfurt got stronger in the second period and really used their physical strength to their advantage; you cannot defend against that every single time. We battled in the second half. And the spectators could see that. I had the feeling that the lads were giving it absolutely everything that they had – and then sometimes in such situations you get the reward late on if the luck is on your side. We're still not entirely stable, we have a few key players who are not yet capable of keeping up the high tempo for the full 90 minutes having recently come back from long injury layoffs. We fought in a way that we have not always done over the course of the past few weeks. That represents a small step forward."

Michy Batshuayi: "I'm very relieved, because I haven't scored in the last few games and now I've helped my team in the race for a Champions League place. It was quite an important victory against a team that had the same number of points as us. In the build-up to making it 3-2, I initially thought that I was offside and I was briefly annoyed. But then I just hit it and it went in. I wasn't disappointed that I didn't play from the start. The coach makes the call. I was tired from the last few games and it allowed me to come on fresh."

Niko Kovac (Frankfurt coach): "Of course I'm annoyed, because my team put in a really good performance in the second half. Dortmund bossed the first half, we did the second. Each time we scored a goal they went straight back down the other end and scored."

Kevin-Prince Boateng: "We played for the win right until the end and unfortunately the ball ended up in our net. But one shouldn't forget: we were playing against Borussia Dortmund." (br)
