“I would not have immediately guessed that we would manage this so impressively," commented Mats Hummels on a second half, in which almost everything worked out the way the team had planned during the break. Julian Brandt celebrated: "It feels absolutely brilliant!" Match reaction.

Julian Brandt: "It feels absolutely brilliant. We knew how important the game was. We started the game pretty well but to concede the two goals was a bitter pill to swallow. Our reaction was absolutely crazy. For my goal, Paco managed to get to the ball before his opponent. I just wanted to get the ball on target and that worked well from an acute angle. I think we're still continuing our development as a team, if everything was perfect, it would be a bit boring too. The second half was a lot of fun."

Mats Hummels: "We said during the half-time break that we just have to continue to play the way we are playing, but we have to put more pressure on their goal. I would not have immediately guessed that we would manage this so impressively. That was excellent. Inter were clinical in the first half, scoring twice from two chances. We failed to score from our two chances. But then in the second half we did not allow Inter any breathing space and put in a very good display for 45 minutes.”

Lucien Favre: "During the break, I spoke very positively about our first half performance. We enjoyed chances to score. Unfortunately, we conceded twice but we knew if we made it 2-1, anything is possible. In the second half we pressed better to prevent Inter's counterattacks. That was the key, we had more possession of the ball. It was a very, very good game with a lot of speed. And it was a crazy game, very good to watch. "
