Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl paid the team a compliment in the aftermath of their dominant derby-day victory. "We can build on this," declared a delighted Julian Brandt. Here are the reactions to the 4-0 win over Schalke 04.

Michael Zorc: "We're all very relieved after the match. We didn't know where we stood after that long break. I can only compliment the team, they did an outstanding job. We highly deserved the victory and to win the game by that margin; that much is very clear. It's very satisfying."

Sebastian Kehl: "I'm very satisfied with the result, especially with the way we went about it. We were all starting from square one. Nobody knew where we stood. We didn't have an opportunity to train in this format for very long. On top of that, we still had one or two players out injured. The team deserves a big compliment. It felt strange – for the lads too, you could see that from their goal celebrations. They went over to the South Stand after the match to give a round of applause for all of our supporters who were watching on television."

Lucien Favre: "It was a good performance from us. The result is deserved. We're all very satisfied. You don't know where you stand before the first game. That's the case for every team."

Roman Bürki: "This was no different from the game we used to play when we were children. Without spectators, just having fun. You could see that was the case for the team today."

Julian Brandt: "I would've obviously preferred it if we had been playing under normal conditions. We all need to adapt. But in a situation like this, you have to try and have fun. And we did at times. And what better way to resume our campaign than with a win? We performed well, even if it wasn't perfect. In the second half in particular, we should've tried to keep the level up. But we made it 3-0 relatively quickly; that played into our hands. Towards the end our energy levels dwindled. I thought it was good for the first game after such a long time. We can build on this."
