For the first time in 09 years, Borussia Dortmund have won both derbies against Schalke 04 in one season. This was last achieved under Jürgen Klopp in 2011/12. Here are the match facts:

Historic: BVB have only beaten Schalke by four goals once, and that was more than 56 years ago. In September 1964, it was 6-2. Four away goals in the derby were last achieved almost 54 years ago, in a 4-1 win in April 1967.

Winning run: Borussia Dortmund have won the last three derbies. The last time that happened was in the 1980s.

Clean sheet: For the first time in the history of the derby, BVB have not conceded a goal in four consecutive games.

Ice cold: Whereas Schalke missed several chances to equalise, BVB increased their lead with their first shot after the break.

Milestone: Borussia Dortmund kept a clean sheet for the 500th time in Bundesliga history; only Bayern have managed to do so more often.

Top scorer: Erling Haaland bagged his sixth brace of this Bundesliga season – his tenth overall – and thus moved level with Robert Lewandowski.

More goals than games: Haaland now has 27 goals in 25 competitive games this season (17 goals in 17 Bundesliga matches).

Top form: Having scored the goal to make it 0-1 and provided the assist for 0-2, Jadon Sancho has been involved in ten of BVB's 19 Bundesliga goals in 2021. He has notched each of his five goals this season since the turn of the year, taking him to a total of 35. No player has reached that mark at a younger age (20.91 years).

Anniversary: Marco Reus played his 300th Bundesliga match and has now been involved in 221 goals (130 goals, 91 assists, today an assist for Guerreiro to make it 3-0).

Favourite opponent: Raphael Guerreiro scored his fourth goal against Schalke – more than against any other club.

Assist: Mateu Morey won the ball for the opener and registered his first goal participation in this Bundesliga season.

Versatile: In the DFB Cup against Paderborn, Emre Can operated in the middle of a three-man defence. In the two subsequent Bundesliga matches, he played right-back. Against Sevilla, he played as a defensive midfielder and today he played as a centre-back as part of a back-four. In the five matches so far in February, the German international has played in four different positions.

Benefit of experience: Borussia's starting eleven had more than twice as many Bundesliga games in their legs (1554) as Schalke's starters (751) and had scored almost ten times as many goals (302) as the Royal Blues (36).
