Marco Reus and Emre Can were in agreement post-match: there was not enough courage shown after their dream start – and they were frustrated about the lead-up to the third Bayern goal. The match reactions.

Marco Reus: "We started well. We then became too passive for my liking and were sitting slightly too deep. In the second half, we did not carry enough of a goal threat. For me, there was a clear foul in the build-up to the 3-2. If that had happened to Bayern, the referee would have 100% blown his whistle. We conceded the first two goals too quickly. In terms of creativity, we didn't have enough depth or spells of possessions. We kept it tight for a long time. In the end, a detail like that proved decisive; it's bitter."

Emre Can: "All in all, it was not enough today. We started well but we then stopped trying to play football. Bayern played very well after that. They're one of the best teams in the world, but we should've all been braver. That was slightly lacking today. If you only show courage against Bayern for 10 minutes, it'll be tough. On the pitch I had the feeling we didn't make good use of space. Now we need to put the game to the back of our minds, because we're in action again on Tuesday."
