''We're going home happy, but we also know we still have a few things to work on,'' said coach Marco Rose, who referenced the three goals conceded: ''We have to improve on this.'' Marco Reus said: ''It was a wild 90 minutes, we didn't envisage it going like that.''

Sebastian Kehl: ''It was exciting until the end, we made it exciting until the end. I think we were clearly the better team. We had the better goalscoring opportunities, but we kept having to come from behind. It was a very emotional game right until the end. The opposing player striking Marco in the face like that was totally uncalled for. It can be given as a penalty. It was a heated atmosphere today. It was great that fans could be there to see it. We deserved to win.''

Marco Rose: ''The most important thing today is the three points. It was a wild game, a spectacle for all football lovers. We saw two very good teams, it was a top Bundesliga match. From the coach's point of view, of course, you wish it was different. We're conceding too many goals, even if we didn't allow all that many chances today. If despite that you can still win in Leverkusen, it speaks volumes of your team. We're going home happy, but we also know we still have a few things to work on. We have to improve on this.''

Marco Reus: ''In the build-up to the penalty I obviously wanted to get to the ball. The opposing player was trying to shield it, and he caught me with his elbow. It was a really sore one. The referee had a look at it and decided it was a penalty. In the end it was a win of mentality. It was a wild 90 minutes, we didn't envisage it going like that. There were a lot of ups and downs. We're not standing tight enough and we're conceding simple goals. We can't always score three or four. The win cost us a lot of energy.''
