Marco Reus scored the important opening goal against FC Copenhagen. He labelled the pass from Julian Brandt "outstanding" and the performance from Gio Reyna "sublime". Here are the captain's thoughts.

Marco Reus on the 3-0 win in the Champions League opener:
"We initially didn't do so well in the first half and should've played much faster. Nonetheless, we made it 1-0 and then 2-0. There could've been more up for grabs if we'd shown more movement between the lines. But I don't want to be too critical."

…on the pressure before the match:
"I'm delighted that we won the must-win game. The fact that we kept a clean sheet will also give the team confidence. It's a continual development. We defend together, nobody shirks away."

…on the integration of Anthony Modeste:
"In Erling, we had a target man. Now we're more versatile, Tony gets better from game to game. His work off and on the ball is unbelievable."

…on Giovanni Reyna's performance:
"Gio produced a sublime performance with two assists. He gives us more flexibility."

…on the injury crisis:
"It's certainly difficult to accept it. One player goes, another comes, but that's how it is in football; considering that, Gio performed outstandingly."

…on the pass from Julian Brandt prior to the opener:
"It was an outstanding ball from Jule, you can't play it through better than that."

…on Sébastien Haller, who watched the match at Signal Iduna Park:
"We write frequently. I got goosebumps when he was shown. We're looking forward to having him back, he has great quality."
