Both are from Hanover and are now playing for BVB. Both have the same opponents in Europe – one in the UFEA Champions League, the other in the UEFA Youth League. We asked BVB first team striker Niclas Füllkrug and up-and-coming goalkeeper Marian Kirsch for a double interview ahead of the start of the European competitions.

How do you look at the matches in Europe?
Marian Kirsch: "I'm extremely excited. We have really exciting opponents, cool away trips, and I am also looking forward to the home games. It's pure anticipation and I'm up for it."

Niclas Füllkrug: "For me, this is my first time in the Champions League and I couldn't have asked for more. I'm going to play away in three top stadiums and we have three incredibly big home games. The draw was great. I believe that anything is possible. I don't see any team as unbeatable. Of course, it's the strongest group and the most evenly balanced, but I want to see if they can all perform the way they imagine in front of the Yellow Wall."

Is the first game in Paris the hardest?
Füllkrug: "You can't say that before the games. It's all about little things that have to go right. But I think we have a very good team, which always works very well, especially in games like these. I am totally confident going into these games with this team. But the game in Paris will, of course, be one where you have to be close to 100 percent."

PSG also have a great academy.
Kirsch: "They will all be able to play football well. But last season, we also knocked them out, so this year, we're approaching the game with the same motivation. I also think that everyone is beatable. We have always gone a long way in the Youth League in the past. Everyone can play – we can too. I think we will be closely matched."

Which stadium are you looking forward to most?
Füllkrug: "I'm most excited about the San Siro. It will be a great atmosphere."
