Borussia Dortmund will welcome VfL Wolfsburg to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on the fifth matchday of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season. Kick-off is at 15:30 CET on Saturday (23/09). BVB have fond memories of their recent home games against the Wolves.

BVB have won their last five home matches against Wolfsburg in a row and the team even scored six goals on two occasions during that run: they claimed a 6-1 victory in April 2022 and triumphed 6-0 in May 2023. The Black & Yellows now want to build on that, even though those recent successes are not a big factor according to coach Edin Terzic. "There are a few topics that we can speak about from the recent games. But we had different players on the pitch, they had different players on the pitch. It will be a completely new game."

BVB are still unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season, with two wins and two draws. The first competitive defeat of the season came this week as they lost their Champions League opener 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain. Marcel Sabitzer was forced off with an adductor injury in Paris on Tuesday evening. "It's not a major injury, but it will be close for the upcoming games," said Terzic, who – in addition to Sabitzer – is only without long-term injury absentees Mateu Morey and Thomas Meunier.

The visitors from Wolfsburg currently sit sixth in the table, one place above BVB, with nine points on the board from three wins and one defeat. "Wolfsburg have started with a run," said Terzic of the opposition, adding: "They're very successful at the moment and in Jonas Wind, they have someone who finds the net from almost any situation. Whether they can do this consistently throughout the entire season remains to be seen." One advantage for the Wolves is that they are not in Europe, which means they have plenty of training time and can prepare well for Bundesliga matches.

Terzic had the following words for his team for Saturday's game: "We know we need to have a good game, then we can make it difficult for them – like in the last home game against them, for example."
