Borussia Dortmund have achieved their goal of securing Champions League qualification ahead of schedule. Results elsewhere on Saturday mean that it is now impossible for BVB to finish outside the top four of the Bundesliga this season.

The Black & Yellows will be taking part in European competition for the 10th season in a row − eight of which have been in the UCL. In total, it is the 14th time that BVB have qualified for the UEFA Champions League since its inception in 1992. The draw for the 2019/20 group stage will take place in Monaco on Thursday 29 August.

A win this afternoon (kick-off 15:30 CET) away to Sportclub Freiburg will take BVB back to within one point of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, who currently have 70 points. (br)
