This Sunday (07.07.2019), Germany's biggest and longest-running tournament for football fans will take place: the legendary South Stand Championship. Organised by the Dortmund Fan Project, the tournament is now in its 27th year. It goes without saying that this year, the tournament will once again take place in one of Dortmund's most famous sporting venues: the iconic Rote Erde Stadion.

At ten o'clock, 48 different BVB fan clubs - from Germany and beyond - will meet up for a day of sport and socialising to mark the transition from one season to the next. Among the fan clubs being represented this year are, to mention but a few -  the South Winners Belgium, the Fanclub London, Black & Yellow Bremen, the Dortmund Ems Borussen, the Black & Yellows Domburussen, the Polish Borussen, the Dutch Vikings 09 and the BVB Tigers from Belgium. Traditionally, the South Stand Championship has been a way for the various fan clubs to mark the end of the season.

As always, the Fan Project have combined with the BVB fan support department to develop a broad programme of activities to keep all participants, both big and small, entertained for the duration of the tournament. The Black & Yellow Brinkhoff's Biergarten in the Rote Erde Stadion is sure to provide everything required for an enjoyable day. Staff from both the BVB fan department and the club's fan support will be present on the day to provide help and answer any questions.

As is the case every year, the tournament is all about having fun and sharing a sense of Black & Yellow togetherness. Nonetheless, the winning team can expect to celebrate their triumph in this temple of football with a grand trophy presentation ceremony. Given that the weather gods have been smiling on the Black & Yellows so far this year, it's certainly looking like a visit to the grand old Rote Erde Stadion will be the best possible way to spend this Sunday.
