Saturday was a day of contrasting fortunes for Borussia Dortmund's junior teams: while the U19s lost their top-of-the-table clash with 1. FC Cologne 2-0, the U17s won 6-2 away at Preußen Münster.

Michael Skibbe's side could not capitalise on their strong start against 1. FC Cologne. Immanuel Pherai, Giovanni Reyna and Youssoufa Moukoko all had opportunities to open the scoring, but they were denied by a save from shot-stopper Adamczyk, the woodwork and a goal-line clearance respectively. The hosts were largely in the ascendancy for the remainder of the match, showing great defensive organisation and posing a threat on the counter. Striker Müller punished two individual errors in the BVB defence with goals in the 21st and 61st minutes. The Borussia Dortmund U19s face their next tough test on Wednesday, when they travel away to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Meanwhile, the U17s went comfortably about their business as they recorded a dominant 6-2 win over Preußen Münster. Captain Dennis Lütke Frie bagged a hat-trick, while Samuel Bamba, Bradley Fink and Bekir El-Zein contributed a goal each. Sebastian Geppert's charges will now turn their attentions to the first derby of the season against Schalke on Wednesday. That match will kick off at 18:00 CET in Brackel.
