After getting the Bundesliga season underway in style with a 5-1 home win over FC Augsburg, the Black & Yellows now travel to Cologne on Friday night for their first away match of the season (kick-off 20:30 CET).

Coach Lucien Favre put his side through their paces at the Hohenbuschei training complex for a good hour on Thursday afternoon. With the sun shining down, there was no doubt that morale was high among the squad. Captain Marco Reus led by example in taking to the training ground ten minutes ahead of schedule. After the successful start to the season last weekend, Reus is now determined to secure another three points in Cologne. The 30-year-old has picked up a total of 12 scorer points (six goals, six assists) in his last 11 matches against 1. FC Cologne.

Zorc calls for ''the desire to win the match at any cost''

A sold-out stadium underneath the floodlights on a Friday night in Cologne: Sporting Director Michael Zorc knows that the upcoming match will be an entirely different beast to the season opener. ''We know that we won't have it as easy as we did in the second half against Augsburg. We need to play with the requisite sharpness and have the desire to win the match at any cost.''

As always, Favre has taken his team through an extensive analysis of the opposition. ''We've watched a lot of Cologne's matches. They're a lively side, they've got a good level of solidity and they press hard and well,'' said Favre. As usual, the coach gave little away with regards to how his side might line up. The one piece of information Favre did give away was that, with the exception of Mateu Morey (injured shoulder), he is able to call upon the entirety of the first team squad. (Here's how they might line up)
