Dortmund sings Christmas Carols

On 15 December 2019, the city of Dortmund can revel in an annual highlight of the festive season. For the third year in a row, over 50,000 people will gather together in SIGNAL IDUNA PARK to form a giant Black & Yellow Christmas choir. Nowhere else will the Christmas spirit be as strong as in Germany's largest football stadium.

''After the successful events held the past two years, it was clear to us that 'Dortmund sings Christmas Carols' deserved to be turned into a club tradition,'' says BVB Managing Director Carsten Cramer, going on to add: ''In these hectic times we live in, there is so much value in thousands of people coming together in the home of Borussia Dortmund to sing in harmony and bask in the spirit of Christmas. We're opening up additional areas of the stadium for this year's event, which means more fans and families from Dortmund and the surrounding areas will be able to experience the magic of SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.''

The event is scheduled to begin at 16:30 CET. The musical programme will be made up of a mixture of over 20 traditional and modern Christmas songs. True to a game of football, there will be two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with a 20 minute intermission in between. The programme, which will be specially catered to children and families, will be led by the presenters Heiko Wasser and Norbert Dickel. As in previous years, children up to the age of nine will be admitted free of charge.

Four top-class musical acts have already been booked: singer Max Herre, soul and R&B icon Joy Denalane, songwriter Joris and trumpeter/all-round entertainer Bruce Kapusta. Actor Wotan Wilke Möhring, a fervent BVB fan, will also read a Christmas story. After enjoying his appearance so much at last year's event, there was no chance he would pass up on the opportunity to spread Christmas cheer once more with his storytelling flair.

A large part of the proceeds from "Dortmund sings Christmas Carols" will go towards social and charitable projects operating in the city. The BVB foundation "leuchte auf" and the media organisation Lensing Hilfswerk will donate the money to various organisations. Last year's "Dortmund sings Christmas Carols" event raised over 50,000 euros for good causes.

Tickets will be available from tomorrow at www.bvb.de/weihnachtssingen as well as at all authorised BVB advance sales outlets. Seated tickets cost just €9.99. Act quick to secure the best seats in the house. Young people between the ages of 10 and 17 as well as students and pensioners enjoy a special Christmas discount, with tickets available for just €5. Children up to and including the age of nine will be admitted free of charge. However, free tickets for children must be booked in advance at either an authorised BVB advance sales outlet or via the following telephone hotline: 01806-991179 (Mon.-Sat. 08:00 - 20:00, Sun. 10:00 - 20:00, €0.20 per minute from a landline, max. €0.60 per minute from a mobile network).

Fans also have the chance to stand on the legendary South Stand and sing in harmony with the yellow wall: standing tickets are available for €5. These tickets are not available for children under six years of age due to health and safety regulations. 

All tickets will be valid for free return journeys with the VRR public transport system across the entirety of the  Dortmund urban area (tariff zone 37/38).
