With the Bundesliga currently on hiatus due to the international break, BVB fans may be looking for an alternative means of getting their Black & Yellow fix. BVB U23 home games offer just that: matches at the grand old Rote Erde Stadion boast exciting Regionalliga football as well as the finest culinary delights, with local delicacies such as Currywurst and Mettbrötchen on offer, all washed down with a refreshing cold drink! The next opportunity to catch the U23s in action is this Saturday, when coach Mike Tullberg's side will host SV Lippstadt (kick-off 14:00 CET).

The U23s go into Saturday's match in a fine run of form. They put in a particularly imperious performance in their recent league win over Oberhausen. Up against one of the top sides in the league, the young Black & Yellows served up a feast of both entertaining attacking football and committed defensive work. ''We're the youngest team in Germany,'' said Tullberg after the match, perhaps exaggerating somewhat. Nonetheless, his comments aren't too far from the truth - the U23s are among the top three youngest sides across the four professional divisions in German football. After the success of their recent run of games, and in light of the fact that no fixture was scheduled for last weekend, coach Tullberg decided to give his team three days off after the Oberhausen match. BVB began their preparations for the upcoming clash with SV Lippstadt in the middle of last week.

Saturday's visitors come to the Rote Erde placed sixteenth in the table. Coach Felix Bechtold's side find themselves mired in a relegation battle after only managing to nine points from their 12 matches so far this season. Lippstadt will however be able to take heart from last season's encounters with the Black & Yellows - the side from eastern Westphalia emerged victorious on both occasions. BVB will be determined to make amends this time round by securing an all-important three points which could see them climb closer to the top of the table with two games in hand.

The Rote Erde Stadium will open its doors at 12:30 on Saturday.
