Borussia Dortmund's ninth consecutive win over Borussia Mönchengladbach means they are now one point behind the table-topping Foals and level on points with Bayern and Leipzig. Here are the match facts.

Dominant: It might have been close at the end, but overall it was a deserved win for Dortmund, who had more chances (20-13) and won more tackles (55%). In addition, the Black & Yellows had more possession (54%) and the better pass completion rate (80%/76%). Gladbach, however, covered 630 metres more (116.56 km).

Contrasting perspectives: BVB finally returned to winning ways in the league following three successive draws. However, they have only lost one of their 12 competitive games this term.

Winning run: Borussia Dortmund extended their winning run against Borussia Mönchengladbach to nine successive games – their longest ongoing winning streak against any current Bundesliga outfit. The two sides will meet again in the DFB Cup in just 11 days' time.

Engine: Thorgan Hazard was involved in 20 of Dortmund's shots on goal. He had four attempts at Yann Sommer's goal himself and set up eight further shooting opportunities – including Marco Reus' winner – for his team-mates. He has already notched up five assists this season! And he has never assisted more shots in a Bundesliga match than the eight he set up today!

Level with Lothar: Marco Reus scored his 121st Bundesliga goal to move level with Lothar Matthäus, Herbert Laumen and Miroslav Klose. He now occupies 30th place in the all-time scoring charts. It was his ninth goal against his former club; Reus has scored in each of his last five games against the Foals.

Swiss shot-stoppers: Roman Bürki had be substituted with an injury and he was replaced by Hitz. It was the first time ever that three Swiss goalkeepers have featured in one Bundesliga match.

Always a winner: Marwin Hitz made his seventh competitive appearance for BVB and finished on the winning side for the seventh time. He has already stood in for Bürki this season in the 2-0 DFB Cup win over Uerdingen and the 5-1 victory over Augsburg on Matchday 1.

Immovable force: Julian Weigl won every one of his five challenges.

Back in action: Nico Schulz made his return from injury in time to face his former club. His last action came as BVB won 3-1 in Cologne on Matchday 2.
